ROGER
DALTREY HEADLINES THIRD ROCK AND
ROLL FANTASY CAMP PRESENTED BY VH1
CLASSIC ADDITIONAL ROCK STAR CAMP COUNSELORS
INCLUDE ACE FREHLEY, LESLIE WEST OF MOUNTAIN AND MORE CAMP TO TAKE PLACE IN NEW YORK CITY JUNE
18-22, 2003 Tuesday
February 25, 2003, New York City, NY - Today VH1 Classic and rock
producer David Fishof announced the third Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp,
where rock and roll fans are invited to come jam and rock out with
rock's legends. This year's Rock Star "professors" include (in
alphabetical order): Roger Daltrey (The Who); Ace Frehley (KISS); Simon
Kirke (Bad Company); Joe Lynn Turner (Deep Purple); Bobby Mayo (Peter
Frampton); Bret Michaels (Poison); Vince Neil (Motley Crue); Leslie West
(Mountain) ….with more to be announced soon. The
third Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp promises to be the most exciting yet!
Over the course of 5 days and nights, participants will receive small
group instruction from celebrity rock and roll musicians; they will
perform live on stage at The Bottom Line in New York City; participate
in a Battle of the Bands; record and bring home a demo in a professional
rehearsal studio; jam daily with your camp band; attend seminars with
industry executives and musicians; and have the opportunity to make an
in-studio appearance at VH1 Classic studio in New York's Greenwich
Village. But best of all - no experience or instruments are required!
For real rock fans, this is a rock and roll fantasy come true. Even
with all this star power, the campers are the real stars of the show.
The first two camps garnered rave reviews from the press and campers
alike: People magazine called the first camp "Awesome" and
Newsweek said "Wow", while this past November the Los Angeles
Times featured two campers jamming on page one of the calendar section;
And journalists from both Entertainment Weekly and Cathay Pacific's
Discovery came as campers and ran features celebrating their experience. Meanwhile
the campers flooded the website with their own testimonials: Pam
Romito wrote "Thank you so much for making my dream a reality.
Playing with all the musicians was fantastic and the final two
hours just blew me away." "Best
part: There were so many, but the winner is the Thursday night party at
the House of Blues. The camaraderie among the campers and instructors
reached a zenith at that event, and it was the perfect ending to a
perfect week..." mused Barry Rosenbaum. "Best surprise:
hanging out in the bar at the Hyatt after camp ended each day...campers
and instructors and great feelings.….Worst surprise: postpartum
depression after getting home from camp…and the Best musical moment:
Sam Moore singing Soul Man...what a pure delight..." Bill
Perry shared a few highlights "Standing on stage with Mark Farner
(of Grand Funk Railroad) and Mark Rivera (musical director for Billy
Joel and Ringo Starr's All Star Band) to sing "I'm Your
Captain" in 3-part harmony; Hearing "Give Me Some Loving"
and "I'm a Man" straight from Spencer Davis!; and singing and
guitar lessons with Derek St. Holmes of The Ted Nugent Band. But the
final night performance at the 'House of Blues' was definitely a high
point in my life. I owe you a debt of thanks that I can hardly describe.
Rock on!" For
the second year in a row, VH1 Classic will provide coverage of the event
including the seminars from the rock star "professors" and the
final performance at New York's renowned Bottom Line. The final
performance will also be a benefit for the Roger Daltrey Teenage Cancer
Trust organization. This
year's Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp will take place in New York City, June
18-22, 2003, (and celebrity drop ins are expected).
